Travel Notes
A travel outfit has a lot of jobs. It has to be comfortable for the long haul, graceful through the dash to the gate and ready for a cabin that’s either a sauna or a fridge. Bonus points if it looks polished enough for whoever is waiting at arrivals, no outfit change required.

Start with the trip. A short drive and lunch is a different mission than a long flight with a connection. Plan around that, then keep the palette small.
Bottoms that pass the sit test
Sit in your travel clothes before travel day. Notice the waistband, the seams and anything pinching behind the knees, then walk, bend and lift an imaginary carry-on. It tells you more than any mirror.
Leggings are one route; relaxed pants or favorite denim may be yours. The prAna Lennox Legging is a fitted, mid rise style with contrast panels, a wide waistband with a hidden mesh key pocket and a gusset for comfort. A secret pocket is never a bad idea.
Keep the base layer boring (in the best way)
Pick a top that works on its own and under another piece. Check the back too: openings, long tails or bulky seams change what plays nicely underneath.
A tiny palette makes packing almost suspiciously easy. Two neutrals and one accent tie your travel outfit to the rest of your bag: charcoal and black with a muted green, say, or dark denim with cream and taupe.

Add a layer you can peel off
The cabin will be cool. The lounge will be warm. An easy layer lets you adjust without a full costume change. The prAna Ionic Reflective Fleece-Lined Hooded Jacket has a center front zip and zippered pockets, so it goes on and off in a moment over leggings and a tee.
Keep that layer within reach. A cozy layer buried at the bottom of your bag is just more luggage.
Give your bag one job
Phone, travel documents, wallet: give them a home and put them back there every single time. Future you, patting every pocket at security, will be grateful.
The Matt & Nat Isshiki Drawstring Bag (9 x 13 x 7 in) closes with a drawstring and has an inside zip pocket for small things. The adjustable, removable crossbody strap keeps your hands free for coffee. Set the strap length before you leave the house, not in the terminal.
Wear shoes you already trust
Travel day is not the day to break in new shoes. Wear a familiar pair that suits your route and the weather. The Novacas Blake Vegan Suede Slip-On Sneaker is a low, black matte vegan suede slip-on with elastic side gores and a thin white sole. It is easy off and on at security, and polished enough to walk straight into dinner.

Last check: can you peel off the layer, reach your essentials and sit down without rearranging everything? Then you’re ready. Something delicious for the journey, obviously.
